We are a well known, internationally active product design agency based in the Stuttgart area. Our references and client portfolio range from innovative start-ups to major international corporations.
Our projects are as diverse as our clients. We develop head-mounted or hand-held medical devices as well as complex laboratory equipment. We are just as experienced in production technology as we are in the fields of electronic enclosures and robotics.
As we know no limits when it comes to scale, we also work with a number of clients in the field of mechanical and plant engineering.
Our passion lies in technically challenging products where we can fully utilise our expertise and develop exceptional design based on functionality.
Our experience and expertise
15 years at defortec and over 30 years’ experience in a wide variety of design projects. We are distinguished by over 300 successful projects on the market and more than 100 design awards. An extensive, cross-sector and international client base demonstrates that we drive technical innovation, and we have been supporting many of our clients in this endeavour for many years. In addition to product and industrial design, we also possess strong expertise in the field of user interface design, partly due to our in-depth understanding of the products themselves. In this way, we create a holistic improvement in quality for our clients across all interfaces or touchpoints of the new products. A key component of our successful design developments is an early assessment of implementation costs, design to cost. Our comprehensive expertise in product development thus not only leads to clear product improvements but also enables cost-effective implementation and, consequently, a good return on investment (ROI) on development costs.

Due to the diversity of our numerous projects, we gain insights into technologies, manufacturing techniques and cost-effective product solutions, which we incorporate into each of our projects. Customer Support and After-Sales Services
Last but not least, we offer our customers project support right through to the design and production stages. We keep a close eye on cost development right up to the end and provide continuous assistance to help achieve the set objectives. This also includes good and reliable suppliers as well as a corresponding knowledge of various manufacturing techniques.
We are also happy to assist our customers with the registration of international intellectual property rights to ensure the uniqueness of new products is preserved in the long term. We use specialised presentation techniques such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) on a daily basis and are pleased to offer these as additional services to our customers. Proof of our work‘s quality are also the numerous design awards we won in the recent years. Famous prizes like the iF product design award, the Red Dot design award, the Focus -design award Baden Württemberg-, the design award Chicago, German Design Award and furthermore the „Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland“ - award of the awards - all in all we have been awarded already more than 100 times for our design.
This amount of prizes has special importance regarding that they have been awarded mainly for technical products, mostly from the mechanical engineering sector. Here we want to say thank you to our clients, who have made this possible with their open mindedness and their enthusiasm for industrial design.
