defortec gives insights into designdevelopment driven by VR

VR in product development - XR Expo Stuttgart

defortec was an exhibitor at the XR Expo - Digital Worlds in Stuttgart and demonstrated how virtual reality (VR) can be integrated into the product development and design of the most complex capital goods - at April 8 & 9, 2025.

Product development for machinery presents numerous challenges: the desire for a high degree of innovation, functional requirements, basic ergonomic requirements, brand-defining demands on machines, and increasingly tight cost structures are factors that defortec, together with its clients, successfully overcome regularly. This makes a holistic and streamlined development process in close collaboration more important.

Especially with capital goods, which often have several square meters of floor space and are highly complex, it is a challenge to convey a realistic sense of space and the subsequent operating situation at an early stage. With VR, we can bring our designs to life in a virtual space at a 1:1 scale and test operating and service situations – long before a physical prototype exists. This increases efficiency: Concepts can be quickly reviewed before detailed design is completed, which would make changes very costly. And reviewing in virtual reality eliminates delivery times – decisions can be made and communicated quickly.

In developments where millimeter-level decisions can have consequences worth millions, VR creates a new dimension of efficiency.

defortec regularly uses virtual reality in developments to create efficiency benefits for its customers.
