defortec at the 11th state congress of the "Offensive Mittelstand"

The 11th state congress of the "Offensive Mittelstand Baden-Württemberg" was an exciting event full of inspiring insights, lively discussions and practical solutions for a more sustainable economy.
Interesting keynote speeches provided insights into the vertical greening of buildings and its effects on the inner-city climate, how the sustainable transformation is taking place at the tool-manufacturer Wiha and what challenges are being faced, or what approaches to battery recycling, especially the solid parts, could look like.

Our Managing Director Angelo Schulz and Morris Pfisterer from our project partner macs Software GmbH provided insights into the current research project “Green Controlling” on the topic of sustainable product development and sustainability reporting:

Most companies will be subject to reporting requirements in the EU by 2030 - due to the Supply Chain Act and reporting obligations throughout the supply chain, smaller companies, which in turn supply subcontractors or machines and products to companies subject to reporting requirements, will also be subject to reporting requirements. Similar laws are being drafted internationally.

The lively participation during the presentation and the lively exchange afterwards shows us how important and relevant ESG reporting is for current products - and that there are still some uncertainties regarding reporting obligations for many companies. We were able to take a lot away from the discussions - including input for the ongoing development.
However, it is much more important to highlight the fact that very few companies drive forward the development of their products in line with ecological target criteria - although this is where the greatest potential can be leveraged. Product development has a significant influence on the structure of a product, the materials used, joining processes and therefore also recyclability. Sustainable product development can become the key to efficient, economical and ecological action in companies in the future.

Studies conducted during our research project have shown that reducing the ecological footprint can also have positive economic effects - if the products are fundamentally rethought.

The event took place on February 20, 2025 at the house of commerce of Baden-Württemberg as part of the “Offensive Mittelstand” network.
