Product Design for a Laser Processing Machine.

The MULTISHIFT laser processing machine by Acsys sets new standards in precision laser manufacturing. Pico- and femtosecond lasers combine extremely short pulse durations with highly precise and gentle material removal. This allows not only surface processing but also the creation of detailed reliefs several millimetres deep. The MULTISHIFT was developed for decorative and functional laser marking, engraving and surface structuring.

System Design

System Design for a Strong Brand Identity.

The design language of the MULTISHIFT was created to be transferable to future machines within the Acsys product portfolio. Defortec is already continuing the development of the characteristic bevel and large glass surfaces to establish a consistent brand identity and strong visual recognition across the entire machine family.

Glass Front

Development of an Innovative Glass Swing-Sliding Door.

One of the main design challenges was the idea of fully glazed front doors. Large glass surfaces place high demands on laser safety and are therefore technically challenging to implement. With the MULTISHIFT, this design concept was successfully realised. Scratch-resistant mineral glass was used for the outer glass surfaces, creating a clean, high-quality appearance while providing a durable and easy-to-clean finish.

A backlit touch sensor was integrated below the glass front to unlock the doors. The precisely designed bevel allows the swing-sliding doors to be comfortably gripped and opened without the need for additional handles, preserving the clean and seamless appearance of the front.

Operation & Ergonomics

Ergonomic Control Panel for Laser Processing Machines.

The MULTISHIFT is operated via an external height-adjustable and mobile control panel. Its dynamically angled support column reflects the characteristic bevel of the machine design, while the full-width handle allows the panel to be positioned easily during operation.

The control panel also features a glass surface with backlit capacitive buttons for the main machine functions. The keyboard and mouse are integrated into a warm, pleasant-touch material, providing comfortable operation during everyday use.
